Even The Dead Are Not Safe Even the Dead Are Not Safe is a five channel sound installation in an imitation graveyard erected by Mark Dion at Mildred's Lane. Speakers were buried under random grave plots, each playing a single sound channel. The composition's duration is 20 minutes and 6 seconds, and consists of 2 movements: The first is a synchronized pattern of multiple types of alarms ringing; the second is the sounding of S.O.S. in morse code staggered throughout the 5 channels in phasing patterns. Even the Dead Are Not Safe was the opening piece for Sad Pavilion, a performance curated by Bret Schneider featuring sound installations and live performances simultaneously staged throughout the rural land of Mildred's Lane.
